EOY Frequently Asked Question (FAQs)

What is the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™?
EY Entrepreneur of The Year™ is a unique global program that recognizes entrepreneurial achievement among individuals and companies that demonstrate vision, leadership and success, and work to improve the quality of life in their communities, countries and around the world.

When does the nomination process begin for the Entrepreneur Of The Year™ Cyprus programme?
Our call-for-nominations window is 20 September to 31 October 2021.

Who is eligible for nomination?
The entrepreneur should be the founder or significant equity shareholder, responsible for the day-to-day operations of the business over the past few years. The business must be headquartered or have its core operations in Cyprus and must have been incorporated for at least 2 years. Co-nominees are eligible if they share leadership responsibilities at the company.

Who can submit a nomination?
Anyone who is associated with a successful entrepreneur can nominate a candidate but should have the entrepreneur’s consent. This includes spouses, employees, bankers, attorneys, public relations managers or entrepreneurs themselves. Self-nominations are encouraged! After all, no one knows the dimensions of an entrepreneur's success better than the entrepreneur.

Do nominees need to be an EY client?
Nominees do not need to be a client or have any relationship with EY.

What is the estimated time of commitment?
For nominees who advance to the finalist round, we estimate that the total time commitment over the course of the program will be between 8-12 hours:

  • Complete nomination form
  • Interview with EY leaders and select sponsors
  • Interview with the independent panel of judges
  • Participate in video filming and photo shooting
  • Attend Awards Ceremony.

How do I submit a nomination?
Nominations can be submitted through a secure online webpage: www.eoy.cy

Do I need to pay any fee for the application?
There is no cost to submit a nomination.

Are application forms kept confidential?
Yes. The information on the nomination form will be used by the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ Cyprus team (in connection with the administration of the award), the sponsors (who will review nonfinancial information), and the independent national panel of judges.

Who are the judges?
Our independent panel of judges includes entrepreneurs and other prominent C-suite business leaders.

How are the winners selected?
All nominees are judged based on their individual merits, stories, and achievements. They are not scored in categories or only against companies in their industry. The judges carefully consider all the nominees across the same scorecard using the global judging criteria and select the most impressive and compelling to be named finalists and winners each year.

When are the Entrepreneur Of The Year™ Cyprus Awards?
The Entrepreneur Of The Year Cyprus Awards celebration where national finalists and winners are named is expected to take place during February 2022.

What is the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year™ Award?
Since its inception in 1986 in Milwaukee, the Entrepreneur Of The Year program has grown into a global business awards program that is now in more than 60 countries and more than 145 cities around the world. Every year, country winners from around the world are inducted into the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year Hall of Fame and vie for the title of EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year. The awards celebration is typically held in June in Monaco; however, it was hosted virtually in 2020.
